The natural colors range from light to almost black natural stripes of the wood. The piece is 1" thick and it measures approx. 10 inches by 4 inches. Out of Africa, and it is to the best of our knowledge the most strikingly figured wood there is. The species name is Microberlinia Brazzavillensis and it comes from West Africa (Gabon, Cameroon, and Congo). A large tree that grows to a diameter as great as five feet. It is a true exotic wood, with limited availability and relatively high prices. Zebrawood is distinctive for its zebra-like light and dark stripes. After careful sanding, a light coat of Danish oil was applied to enhance the wood beauty. Six felt pads were applied to the back to ensure the protection of the piece as well as the table in which is used.
