Description: Up for sale is a beautiful Alfred Meakin Fair Winds (Brown) Four (4) Piece Place Setting. The place settings are part of a much larger set currently up for sale, so be sure and check out my many other lots! The following pieces are included in each place setting: 1 Dinner Plate – 10.625” in diameter 1 Bread & Butter Plate – 7.0” in diameter 1 Saucer – 5.5” in diameter 1 Flat Cup – 2.75” in height All pieces are marked with similar, but varying, backstamps based upon the historical significance of the piece. Most pieces are marked “Alfred Meakin Staffordshire England, Fair Winds, Original Copper Engravings depicting Historical Scenes of Chinese Export to America, Permanent Colors, Dishwasher and Detergent Safe.” Additions to the back stamps are present to further describe the scene depicted on the piece. Additionally, all pieces are of a white/ivory/ironstone base with historical scenes depicted in brown and have been discontinued! Condition: Overall, the place settings are in good condition and look to have been rarely used. The set was acquired as part of a much larger set with little history known; however, no major condition issues (such as chips, cracks, or crazing) were noticed upon a thorough inspection. The pieces may show light utensil scratches or other signs of holiday use, light cleaning scratches, or other minor imperfections (more so on the back of the plates – examples are shown in the photos); however, I do not feel that the condition of the pieces have been compromised.
